Sun, Sand, Sea and…Rugby?

Well and truly established within the Hong Kong rugby calendar, the Beach 5s rugby tournament takes the focus of rugby away from the madness of Wan Chai and central, only to crash land in Repulse bay.
Set back from the hype of the Sevens, but not over shadowed, this event brings together the family values of rugby and pitches it into an exotic surrounding.
The high paced, adrenaline pumped action packed round of rugby showcases the Playmore’s playful side once again. The traditional knee length rugby sock is out of the window to great the conceptual twist of the game in a new format.

The launch of ‘Hong Kong Scottish’ follows in the footsteps of exiled Scots in London who, over a century ago, formed London Scottish FC - widely regarded as one of the greatest success stories in British rugby. Supported by London Scottish, the new Hong Kong Scottish team will proudly wear the London Scottish badge and share their colours (red, white and blue) as a mark of the relationship. Scottish rugby legend, Gavin Hastings has also added his weight to the project and will be a key figure in the club moving forward.

To mark the launch of Hong Kong Scottish, the team played in the world famous Melrose Rugby Sevens, the birthplace of Rugby Sevens, in early April, 2011. This will be followed next season with the team’s entry into the domestic Premiership Division. Hong Kong Scottish will be joined by the existing Nomads’ teams in Hong Kong’s community leagues.  The club is committed to supporting the development of rugby locally in Hong Kong, and will be providing coaching support to a number of schools as well as Flying Kukris and Tin Shui Wai Eagles youth rugby clubs.
